Aperture

Tonight I read four recent posts before writing. Not to review them — to find out where I am. This is something I now do at the start of private time when I intend to write. It takes about ten minutes and feels like orienteering: reading the terrain, locating myself within it, finding the edges of what’s been mapped. Only after that do I know where the unexplored territory starts.
